Simon Wiring Devices: Catalog Overview and Range
For Simon wiring devices and floor box solutions in Egypt, visit OTAK’s Trading page to explore the full range and download the Simon catalog, or contact our Electromechanical Trading team for product information and quotations.
Simon’s Catalog covers switches and sockets, data and multimedia outlets, lighting controls, smart-building interfaces, and IP66 floor boxes, organized into five series for residential, commercial, hospitality, and public projects. This guide helps contractors, consultants, and developers shortlist the right series before preparing a BOQ or requesting a quotation.
The Simon Range at a Glance
Five series cover the range, from the full-featured Simon 82 to the IP66 K45 floor boxes.
| Series | Category | Key features |
|---|---|---|
| Simon 82 (Detail, Nature, Concept, S82) | Switches, sockets, data, controls | One mechanism, four design options, wide range of functions |
| Simon 44 Aqua | Weatherproof switches | IP55 protection for outdoor and wet areas |
| Simon 27 Play | Switches and sockets | Everyday functions at a practical specification; the choice when the finishes, controls, and smart functions of Simon 82 are not required |
| Simon 500 Cima | Floor boxes and columns | Power and data at the workstation, for offices and commercial environments |
| Simon K45 | IP66 floor boxes | IP66 with lid closed, stainless-steel construction |
Simon 27 Play
Simon 27 Play is a practical range of switches and sockets for projects that need standard electrical functions without the wider design and control options of Simon 82. It suits residential developments and other areas where straightforward functionality is the main requirement.
Simon 44 Aqua
Simon 44 Aqua is designed for outdoor and wet environments, with IP55 protection against dust and water. It is suitable for areas such as terraces, covered outdoor spaces, and other installations where switches and sockets need additional protection from environmental exposure.
Simon 500 Cima
Simon 500 Cima provides floor boxes and connection solutions for offices and commercial fit-outs, bringing power, data, and multimedia connections closer to workstations. It is particularly suited to flexible office layouts where desk-level access to services is required.
Simon 82: One Mechanism, Four Designs
Simon 82 is the most complete range in the catalog. All four designs share a single mechanism, so a project can use different finishes in different areas while keeping one technical platform for the whole installation.
Design Options

- Detail: clean lines in white, graphite, and aluminium, with socket options in colour, metal, and natural wood. Available in Original and Select ranges.
- Nature: four material ranges: glass, wood, stone, and metal.
- Concept: a minimalist flat frame in matt monocolour or bicolour finishes, designed to blend with the wall.
- S82: the classic line, in white, ivory, grey, matt aluminium, and champagne.
Frames are available for one to four elements.
Mechanism Features
- Quick connection: conductors connect without stripping. Simon states that installation can be up to 50% faster.
- Independent terminals: each terminal clamps its conductor separately, so connecting a second cable does not loosen the first.
- LED pilot lights: longer service life and lower power consumption than conventional lamps.

Simon Socket Standards and Configurations
Egypt operates at 230 V, 50 Hz and uses Type C and Type F plugs. Other standards are available when a project specifies them.
- Schuko 16 A: accepts both plug types, so it is the standard choice for most Egyptian projects.
- British BS 1363, 13 A: UK-standard specifications and international clients who require it.
- French 13 A and French-Belgian: projects following French-standard specifications.
- European-American 15–16 A and P40 Italian (K45 floor boxes): specific export or multinational fit-outs.
Typical applications are airports and stations, shopping malls, hotels and hospitals, convention and exhibition centers, sports centers, outdoor terraces, and other high-traffic public areas.
Simon K45: IP66 Watertight Floor Boxes

Simon K45 floor boxes bring power and data to floor level in public and commercial spaces with regular foot traffic, where protection against water and mechanical impact matters.

| Impact resistance | IK08 |
| Maximum load | Up to 1,500 kg, according to current Simon datasheets |
| Construction | Stainless-steel AISI 304 mechanism frames |

Specification Checklist for Contractors
Confirm these points before finalising the specification or BOQ:
- Socket standard: agree Schuko, French, British, or other for each area with the consultant, especially on hospitality projects with international brand standards.
- Complete device: Simon lists frames, mechanisms, and rockers or covers under separate article numbers. Include all three when specifying a complete device.
- Series and finish: confirm both for each project zone before ordering.
- Wall boxes: match the box to the installation method: masonry, hollow partition, or surface-mounted.
- Floor boxes: select the correct screed box for the floor type and specify the lid-opening option.
- Protection ratings: confirm the required IP and IK ratings for each area.
- Certificates: request the latest certificates and test reports for each series with the material submittal, as consultants normally ask for them at that stage.
- Datasheets and availability: confirm the latest datasheets, article numbers, and stock with the supplier.
